Houseboating Together Again…

Houseboat vacationing means a lot of family and wet towels in one place…

P1120359P1120124

It also means gourmet meals shared in the making and the partaking.

It means a little swimming in the rain and a lot of hot-tubbing,

cuddles and cat naps.

P1120345P1120250P1120306

It means a little hiking and a lot of stone throwing on the beach.

a first fish,

and first some-mores on the beach.

It even means a little shopping on the water!

P1120245

It means being together, all together for an end-of-summer’s vacation again after 10 years of growing up and multiplying, sandwiched between the first-born’s leaving home and the last-born’s flying away.

P1120048

It means celebrating a slice of shared life before parting ways again,  till next time…

Island Living…

We don’t actually live on an island, but still… you’ve got to take a ferry to find long flat miles to pedal… So one fine morning in order to make the most of some pre-fall sunshine we took off for Vancouver Island to pedal…

P1110977

Ironically, our ultimate destination was another much smaller island…

P1110993

via a smaller ferry…P1110990

P1110987

Lovely country roads wend by pastures and quiet haunts… even a picturesque marsh.

P1110999P1120004ACTP0102

We even got to do some walking this time around…

P1120007P1120008

up a woodland trail in cool dappled shade to an overlook of …

ACTP0110

the lighthouse station on Chrome Island!P1120010

Now that would be a little place to live; we’d have to get a stationery tandem!
I think I shall count my blessings…

P1120025

Whew! by day’s end we’d pedaled 68 miles and I was more than ready for the ferry ride home…
